The Witness Who Holds the Light While You Descend
Meet Ninshubur
She stays above ground so you don't have to journey alone
Dear Sister,
There's a moment in every descent—every true underworld journey—when you realise you cannot do this alone.
You can feel the call. You can gather your courage. You can even begin the stripping away at the first gate. But somewhere around the second or third surrender, a question rises from the depths:
Who will hold the rope? Who will remember my name while I forget myself? Who will stay in the light while I descend into shadow?
In the ancient myth of Inanna, this is Ninshubur
The One Who Stays Above
Ninshubur is Inanna's prime minister, her loyal companion, her sacred witness. Before Inanna descends to the underworld, she gives Ninshubur clear instructions:
"If I do not return in three days, go to the gods. Mourn for me. Beat the drum for me. Circle the temples of the gods. Do not let them forget me. Do not let me be lost."
Ninshubur does not descend. She stays above ground.
She holds the vigil. She mourns. She petitions the gods. She refuses to let Inanna be forgotten in the darkness. And ultimately, it is Ninshubur's unwavering presence and action that secures Inanna's resurrection.
Ninshubur is the witness. The part—or the one—who remains steady, clear, and above ground while every other part of you is being deconstructed in the underworld.
The Priestess Energy of Sacred Witnessing
Ninshubur carries a specific frequency. It is priestess energy
She is the one who tends the flame. Who holds the container. Who knows that descent is sacred and does not try to rescue you from it, but also refuses to let you be consumed by it.
She is:
- The therapist who sits with you in your darkest places and is not afraid
- The coach who holds the vision of your wholeness when you've forgotten it
- The sister who says "I will text you every day until you feel like yourself again"
- The container of this course, holding the structure while you unravel
- The part of yourself that can learn to witness without merging, to hold without fixing
In any true initiation, Ninshubur is essential. She is not the one descending—she is the one who makes descent safe enough to be transformational rather than traumatic.
Normal Life Doesn't Pause for the Underworld
Here's what every woman on this path discovers: life continues.
The laundry piles up. The children need dinner. Emails arrive. Partners have their own storms. The world keeps spinning, often entirely unaware that you are in the middle of dying and being reborn.
This is why Ninshubur is not just a luxury—she is essential for your integration, survival, and sanity.
When you are deep in the underworld, when the old identities are crumbling and the new self hasn't yet solidified, you need someone—or something—to:
- Remind you who you are
- Hold the timeline of your wholeness
- Say "this darkness is part of the journey, not proof you're broken"
- Keep the light on above ground so you have somewhere to return to
This container—Rebirth Your True Essence—is designed to be your Ninshubur. I am your Ninshubur. The sisterhood walking this path with you are each other's Ninshuburs. And perhaps most importantly, you are learning to become your own Ninshubur—the witness who can hold herself with compassion through any descent.
The Sisterhood as Ninshubur
There is a reason this work is done in circle. There is a reason Inanna did not descend alone, even though Ninshubur stayed above.
The women walking this path with you will become Ninshuburs for one another. Not by descending with you—but by holding the space, sharing their own journeys, witnessing your process without fixing it, and reminding you that you are not alone in the dark.
This is sisterhood at its most sacred: not rescue, but witness. Not fixing, but holding. Not merging, but loving from the solid ground of our own sovereignty.
Your Invitation
As you prepare for this descent—whether you join us in June or are simply being asked to go deeper in your own life—I invite you to ask yourself:
Who is my Ninshubur?
And if the answer feels uncertain, or alone, or "no one," then perhaps this container is exactly what you need.
Because here, you will find:
- A guide who has walked the descent and knows the territory
- A structure designed to hold you through every gate
- A sisterhood of women committed to witnessing one another
- And most importantly, the tools to cultivate the inner witness—the Ninshubur within—who will stay with you long after the course ends.
The gates open June 4th. Ninshubur is waiting.

Please note the new dates and flow of the course. This is not about adding more to your plate. This is about using life itself as the transformative container.
This is still the deepest work I offer. It promises, on the other side of the descent, the most authentic, sovereign, alive version of yourself.
