Working with prisoners and my own underworld journey
The heart is not a destination. It is the path itself.
If we dare to walk it, barefoot and open, life becomes a dance of truth, beauty, and wild remembering. This path can hurt like hell at times too!!
I am currently rolling out a project teaching men behind bars mindfulness and personal growth. I've been struck by their curiosity and their intelligent questions.
The Uncomfortable Truth ...
In that room, I saw how thin the boundary is between "us" and "them." Trauma. A few bad breaks. Lacking the right support. The difference isn’t character—it’s circumstance.
These men weren’t just students. They were mirrors. Their struggles laid bare a hard truth: Without the right tools, any of us could shatter.
Being in my own underworld journey made me think what route my own descent could look like without the wisdom that my healing journey has gifted me and the people holding me
I'm reading the heroine's journey through the lense of the Goddess Inanna. When I read the first chapter I had no idea life was preparing me for this journey too.
I have my north nodal point of the moon in Scorpio (If you dont know your nodal points of the moon, I encourage you to find out where yours is). Scorpio North Node point towards a path of leaving behind shallow living, material attachments and comfort. Depth, transformation and surrender and outgrowing every space that refuses to evolve with me.
Recognising that feels scary and that's what our true north feels like - its brings up resistance. With three planets in cancer, safety and comfort are so important to me also. So I am always in the internal struggle to move towards my mission.
Following our true north - our souls mission will always feel like a challenge and since mine represents surrendering to the transformation it's no wonder this book; descent and rising found its way to me.
Hungry, wholehearted, and unwilling to settle.
The Heroine is the one who says yes to experience, not because it’s easy, but because it’s real. Lit up by longing, moved by the ache to feel, to know, to become. This path is not linear. It twists through desire, disruption, grace, and the kind of wisdom only earned by life being a teacher
Where others avoid the mess, the one on this path wades in. No maps, just following the pulse of hunger. This path of presence breaks patterns and awakens new possibilities. It teaches that miracles are not fantasies, but frequencies unlocked by courage, claimed through contact/intimacy, and revealed in the willingness to be changed.
Do you feel you are here to conquer life or to be transformed by it?
For me my own remembering seems to live in my deepest desires, in the risk, the ache, and the unknown.
If you feel the call of this less tidy path here are some penetrating questions to contemplate ....
· Where is life calling you toward something unknown—and are you brave enough to answer?
The path of the Heroine begins with a whisper. Can you hear it beneath the noise? What part of you longs to step beyond the familiar?
·
· Are you chasing novelty, or surrendering to true transformation?
Desire and distraction can look alike. Are you seeking to escape discomfort, or to feel something real? What if the miracle lives in the discomfort?
·
· What hunger lives beneath your actions?
What emotion or experience am I truly craving? Is it connection? Aliveness? Recognition? Fulfillment? Dare to name your true longing.
·
· Do you allow your voice to open new portals—or do you silence yourself at the edge of vulnerability?
Your voice is a bridge. Are you using it to stay safe, or to forge new terrain? What truth wants to be spoken through you?
·
· Where have you been waiting for permission to leap?
The Heroine does not wait for certainty—she follows the pulse of purpose. What adventure is waiting for your yes?
·
· Are you letting yourself feel the full spectrum of life experience—or are you avoiding the emotional storm?
Emotion is the threshold of transformation. Are you skimming the surface, or diving in with your whole heart?
· What miracle might meet you on the other side of risk?
Every time you leap, something sacred awakens. What could be waiting for you—if you dared to step through?
