Venus in the Underworld — The Descent That Makes Abundance Possible

Venus descends for 40 days. Here's what that means for your abundance.

We are standing at a threshold.

October arrives, and with it, a cosmic event that has captured the imagination of mystics and myth-makers for thousands of years: Venus descends into the underworld for 40 days and 40 nights.

This is an invitation — a living myth that is asking to be lived through us. I've been deep diving into Venus in my birth chart I invite you do the same to explore where you source your abundance.

The Myth That Maps the Way

The story of Inanna's descent is one of the oldest spiritual texts we have. Inanna, the Queen of Heaven, descends into the underworld to visit her sister Ereshkigal. At each of the seven gates, she is asked to remove something — her crown, her jewels, her robes. By the time she reaches the bottom, she is stripped of everything that defined her.

And yet, it is only in that stripped state that she meets the deepest truth. She does not find emptiness in the underworld. She finds the source.

This is the blueprint Venus is offering us now.

What the Descent Is Teaching Us

Venus represents the feminine: who we are in relationship, in beauty, and in abundance. When she descends, these qualities do not disappear. They go underground — to be purified, reclaimed, and reborn.

The descent is not a punishment. It is a preparation.

Abundance is not built in the light. It is built in the dark. The roots grow underground. The seed cracks open in the soil, unseen. If we want a container that can hold abundance, we must first be willing to descend into the places where we feel its absence — the scarcity stories, the "not enough" wounds, the places where we grip and hoard and fear.

That is where the vessel is forged.

The Seven Gates: What We Leave Behind, What We Reclaim

For those who have already walked the path of rebirth — who have descended before and risen — this Venus passage is not new territory. It is a return to familiar ground.

The first time we met the seven gates, we were asked to release: to let go of the crown, the jewels, the robes. That was the work of purification - last month we worked on this theme

Now, the gates ask a different question: What did you leave behind that you now choose to reclaim?
• The crown you removed — what authority are you ready to reclaim?
• The jewels you surrendered — what worth are you ready to remember?
• The robes you shed — what identity are you ready to inhabit fully?

The underworld holds the pieces of ourselves we left behind because we thought we didn't deserve them. Venus descends to retrieve them.

The Map of Emotional Frequency: Feeling More to Access More

But how do we know what we are ready to reclaim? How do we navigate the underworld without getting lost in its shadows?

This is where the Hawkins Map of Consciousness becomes a compass.

The map teaches us something radical: our emotional frequency determines what we can access. The lower frequencies — shame, guilt, fear, grief — are not "bad" emotions. They are gates. They are the places we must pass through, not around. The descent into the underworld is, in Hawkins' terms, a descent through the lower frequencies — and it is only by feeling them fully that we rise through them.

You cannot skip the grief and arrive at love. You cannot bypass the fear and land in trust. The map is a ladder, and every rung must be felt.

This is the deeper teaching of Inanna's descent. At each gate, she is not simply removing an ornament. She is meeting an emotion — the grief of the crown, the shame of the jewels, the fear of the robes. And she does not turn away. She feels it. She lets it strip her. And in that feeling, she is transformed.

The feminine path is not about escaping the dark. It is about learning to feel our way through it. The more we are willing to feel, the more we are able to access — more love, more abundance, more of our true essence.

This is what it means to feel more to access more.

The Feminine Gift of Receiving

Here is the heart of this teaching: receiving is not passive. It is a power.

Venus rules the feminine — and the feminine principle is receptivity. Many of us have spent our lives in the masculine mode of doing, earning, proving. The descent is the deep practice of the opposite: allowing, opening, receiving without effort.

Abundance flows to the woman who has learned to receive. Not to the woman who chases it. Not to the woman who earns it. To the woman who stands in her worth and lets it come.

This is why the descent matters. You cannot receive in the light if you have not learned to trust in the dark. The underworld is where the feminine learns that she is held — that the earth provides, that the source is endless, that she does not have to grip.

What This Means for Our Community

This month, the Abide in your true essence container are working with the theme of abundance — not as a goal to chase, but as a capacity to build. We are practising the open palm: receiving without reflecting, holding without leaking, trusting without gripping.

The practice is simple, but it is not easy. It asks us to notice every moment we deflect a compliment, every moment we apologise for taking up space, every moment we believe we must earn what is already ours.

These 40 days are a container. What if we used them to build one small muscle — the muscle of receiving?

And for Those Ready to Go Deeper

Rebirth Your True Essence — an eight-week container where we work with the myth of Inanna to map the descent, and the Hawkins Map of Consciousness as a map of our emotional frequency. This is the foundational journey for the feminine initiation: learning to feel more, so we can access more. The descent is not something to survive — it is something to use. And these eight weeks give you the map and the compass.

The descent is happening. The question is whether we will walk it consciously.

The Invitation

You do not need to fix the whole world to feel this. You do not need to be further along than you are.

One sincere moment of connection. One real word of appreciation offered to another soul. One compliment received without deflection.

Venus descends not to lose her light, but to reclaim it at its source. So do we.

Gift yourself a conscious descent
With love
