From Surviving to Thriving — The Courage to Receive

We are on the cusp of a very potent doorway.

The eclipse is close. Eclipses close one chapter and crack open the next—whether you feel ready or not. It's a time to feel into what's next. To play with desire. To ask the questions we usually keep at arm's length.

The Abide in Your True Essence community worked with desire as a theme for a full month, and it was a stretch for many of us. It's one thing to name a true soul desire—not the ego-led, should-want list, but the quiet, persistent whisper that won't leave you alone. It's another thing entirely to call it in.

Because here's what I've noticed: desire, or Eros, doesn't just bring us what we want. It brings us to the edge of our deepest inner work. It shows us exactly where we're still closed, still guarded, still protecting ourselves from the very thing we long for.

The Art of Receiving

For those of you curious about receptivity—and this is the real work of thriving—here's what I've come to understand.

We often think that receiving, whether it's love, opportunity, support, or abundance, is simply a matter of what's offered to us. We imagine that if something good arrives at our door, we will naturally let it in.

But receptivity is not passive. It is an active, dynamic state, shaped by layers of our being that operate beneath conscious awareness.

Think of yourself as a vessel. The capacity of that vessel, and the conditions under which it can open, are not determined by the world outside. They are determined by the intricate inner landscape you carry.

Feel into these statements:

1. What you are able to receive is influenced by what your nervous system experiences as safe.
2. What you are able to receive is influenced by what your subconscious expects.
3. What you are able to receive is influenced by what your body has learned to protect against.
4. What you are able to receive is influenced by what you believe you deserve.
5. What you are able to receive is influenced by how much energy you allow yourself to hold.

The Vessel and Its Conditions

First, there is the body. Your nervous system is constantly scanning your environment, asking a primal question: Is it safe here? If your system has learned, through past experience, that opening up leads to pain, it will guard you—tightening, numbing, or turning away from what is offered. Your body may have learned to protect against the very thing you consciously long for.

Beneath the body lies the subconscious. It holds your deepest expectations, the blueprints formed in childhood about how the world works and what you can count on. If your subconscious expects scarcity, rejection, or disappointment, it will filter your perception, making it difficult to even see the opportunities and kindness that are present.

Then there is your sense of deserving. A quiet, often unexamined belief about your own worthiness. You may say you want more, but if a part of you believes you are not worthy of receiving it, you will unconsciously sabotage it or turn it away at the gate.

Finally, there is the matter of energy. To receive is to allow a greater current to move through you—more feeling, more responsibility, more visibility, more life. This requires you to hold more energy within your own system. If you are accustomed to playing small, to dimming your light, allowing yourself to hold that much energy may feel unfamiliar and even dangerous.

So What Does This Mean?

Learning to receive is rarely about getting more. It is about becoming more available.

It is a practice of tending to your nervous system. Bringing hidden expectations into the light. Softening the body's armour. Courageously expanding your capacity to hold all that you are meant to carry.

The Eclipse Invitation

As we stand in this portal, I invite you to get honest.

Name one dream. One shift. One thing you've been whispering to yourself when no one's listening. Write it down. Say it out loud. Let the eclipse carry it.

Then ask yourself: Am I ready to begin the work to clear what's blocking it?

Because the desire is the doorway. But the clearing is the journey. And the receiving is the reward of the woman brave enough to do both.

Wherever You Are, There Is a Path

Whether you're just beginning to name your desires, ready to clear what's in the way, or prepared to embody the version of yourself who can hold it all—there is an offering here to meet you.....
